Overview

An internally designed and fabricated mobile work bench built to solve two problems at once: providing a solid mounting point for a bench vice, and freeing up floor space in a small workshop when the bench is not in use.

The bench is deliberately tall and open underneath so it rolls straight over a Bahco 1475KXL8 solid steel eight drawer wheeled tool trolley. Parking the bench over the trolley means the two items share a single footprint rather than each taking their own bay of floor space.

The frame is welded steel box section with cross bracing at the lower rails to resist racking when the vice is being worked hard. A solid timber top is bolted through the frame to give a forgiving work surface, and braked castors let the bench be repositioned easily and then locked down in use.
